How TikTok Shop fees are calculated

TikTok Shop's current US referral-fee formula is based on the order's Customer Payment plus TikTok/platform-funded discount minus tax. Seller-funded coupons, shipping-cost assumptions, product cost, and creator commissions are intentionally not derived on this Task 12 fee calculator.

Current TikTok Shop referral fee

The standard US referral fee became 6% beginning April 1, 2024. The calculator keeps that effective date on the central standard-rate record and uses the current category table for verified exceptions.

TikTok Shop category fee differences

Most current US TikTok Shop categories use the 6% group. The selector also includes the verified 5% jewelry subcategory group, other jewelry at 6%, Collectibles with a marginal threshold, and Pre-Owned with a marginal threshold. Do not use this page for non-US TikTok Shop markets.

5% jewelry categories

The reduced 5% rate applies only to Diamond, Gold, Jade, Platinum / Carat Gold, and Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald subcategories. Other jewelry examples such as Amber, Artificial Gemstones, Natural Crystal, Non-natural Crystal, Pearl, Semiprecious Stones, and Silver remain in the 6% group.

Collectibles and the $10,000 fee threshold

Current verified Collectibles groups include Cultural Items, Entertainment, Sports Collectibles, and Trading Cards & Accessories. The first $10,000 of the referral-fee base is charged at 6%, and only the amount above $10,000 is charged at 3%.

Pre-Owned TikTok Shop fees

Verified Pre-Owned groups include bags, collectible trading cards, luggage and travel, watches, footwear, refurbished phones and electronics, fashion accessories, menswear, womenswear, collectible coins and paper money, collectible figures, and collectible comic books. The first $10,000 is charged at 5%, and only the amount above $10,000 is charged at 3%.

TikTok platform-funded discounts

Platform-funded discounts are added to the referral-fee base because the official formula uses Customer Payment plus Platform Discount minus Tax. Enter only discounts funded by TikTok/platform in that field. Do not put seller-funded promotions there unless TikTok's order details classify them that way.

Does TikTok charge fees on tax?

In the official Task 12 formula, Tax / Retail Delivery Fee is subtracted from the referral-fee base. Separately, beginning November 1, 2025, certain US sellers, including sellers registered in Texas or West Virginia, may see sales tax added to TikTok Shop referral fees. This calculator does not automatically estimate tax on seller fees. If you know that charge, you can enter it as Other TikTok Shop Fees.

TikTok Shop refund administration fee

Refund and return economics are not automatically modeled here. TikTok's current documentation explains that when referral fees are refunded after an eligible refund or return, TikTok generally retains a Refund Administration Fee equal to 20% of the refunded referral fee. Starting May 15, 2025, that fee has a maximum of $5 per SKU type per refund. Current exclusions include certain Buy Now Refund Later creator sample refunds and qualifying pre-shipment auto-cancellations.

TikTok new-seller promotional rates

Some eligible new sellers or campaign-specific programs may receive lower temporary referral rates. The standard calculator uses the selected category rate unless you explicitly turn on the custom promotional-rate control and enter a rate confirmed in Seller Center. A custom rate never changes the official rate data stored by SellerFormulas.

Affiliate commissions vs TikTok referral fees

Creator or affiliate commissions are separate seller costs, not the platform referral fee calculated here. This page does not calculate affiliate commission, TikTok Shop Ads, GMV Max, CPS Ads, Promote, or other advertising.
